Went a step further than http://jira.sakaiproject.org/browse/SAKIII-515:

Logged in, clicked 'change photo' and selected a picture. 
This time I did click 'upload'. At this point you should select an area in the picture but now I clicked 'cancel' so didn't select an area. The screen closed.
I would expect the system not to remember the picture because I clicked 'cancel'. 
When clicking on 'change photo' again, the  'canceled' picture was still visible (without a selected area) while it had never been saved. 
When clicking 'cancel', the picture shouldn't be saved and it shouldn't be shown when clicking 'change photo' again.
