Nicolaas Matthijs commented on SAKIII-4067:
-------------------------------------------
Continued progress has been made. First letter navigation only appears to work in IE 8 and IE 9. It did not work in FF4 and Safari 5
More ARIA attributes are still required to make the menu accessible to users of screen reading software.
Removed bad example
Here is an example (it does not have click-able main menu links) http://test.cita.illinois.edu/aria/menubar/menubar1.php
I am working on a Jing video that I will post shortly

> We should make the top navigation keyboard accessible. This means:
> 1. All menus are shown on focus
> 2. You can tab down to each menu, then use the keyboard arrows to navigate up and down the menu
> 3. The menu item highlight is both for focus and hover
> 4. You can use both mouse and keyboard in concert -- using the keyboard shouldn't restrict the ability to intervene with a mouse
