A user scenario that just called in at our office and is probably worth capturing.
One of our colleges offers summer courses to non-university participants. They provide accommodation in a traditional Cambridge College and interesting educational activities, sometimes accessing special collections and other things unique to Cambridge. Colleges are independent legal entities and can act independently from the University, however they also provide a lot of undergraduate teaching and accommodation in term time.
They would like a social elearning environment to support their summer students. They would want college control and branding for the activity. We would like to keep their student population separate from our undergraduates, but might like to have controlled networking in the same way we might want to encourage networking of our undergraduates with undergraduates at other schools. So we would want multi-tenancy to give them an economical home on our system and networking support to allow selective access to academic life.
