Yes, we shut down for backups. But given Sparse's non-transactional
request handling (not to mention Sparse's novelty), I'd want to quiesce
the system even if Jackrabbit wasn't involved. For the moment I'm trying
to accept that as part of the growing-pains of a version-one pilot,
along with lack of clustering, the awful MySQL performance, the lack of
administrative tools, and so on.
