Hi,
I am new to sakai, and am trying to get it up and running. I am using
ubuntu 8.10 on my testing machine, which is running on standard 32bit
intel hardware. I am not very familiar with tomcat (v5.5), which is the
application server on this machine. However, it seems to be up and
alive and well, since I get the default tomcat server page if I navigate
to http://localhost:8080. I have done almost nothing to configure this
server beyond installing the default ubuntu tomcat 5.5 packages (though
I did edit the configuration files in accordance with the sakai
instructions).
My situation is that I have downloaded and built sakai 2.5.x using the
instructions on the website: this step completes with no errors. I am
not using any mysql/oracle database at this time. I just want to get
sakai up and running first.
After compilation, I go to the http://localhost:8080/portal address, and
get an error page that says Error 404 - The requested resource () is not
available.
I have a feeling this is a misconfiguration issue. Has anybody got a
brief summary of what to do in the case of an ubuntu server to get sakai
up and running?
Thanks,
F Jones
